In this series, my focus was to use more natural/found materials like my ancestors.  I simplified motifs found on ceremonial Cherokee dress and incorporated buffalo teeth, porcupine hair, and mica sheets into some of the weavings.  One of the pieces features strings of glass beads, a very important artisan craft practiced by many Native American tribes.  For the color palette and texture, I used the hen of the woods mushroom as a resource, inspiring the flaky-textured novelty yarns in the warp and the overall warm-neutral, high-contrast color palette.
