In this series, the Puff Ball mushroom was featured. This is a very common mushroom; there are up to 10 variations of the species in just Eastern Oklahoma. This mushroom has a soft and supple surface texture, sometimes with a slight sheen to the cap. Some feature tiny spikes with a slightly crackled appearance and range from a milky white to a dark grey-brown, depending on species and stage of growth. This series features larger motifs incorporating porcupine quills and hair, small glass and large wooden and bone beads. These works were handwoven to create a delicate, lightweight, yet structured fabric, with the use of textured novelty yarns in the warp and shiny brown yarns to emulate the varying textures of the mushrooms, paired with stronger yarns to enforce durability of the piece.
